Family Nursing Instructor

Under limited supervision, instruct students toward professional nursing practice in community health care.
Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act may include, but are not limited to the following characteristics, duties, responsibilities, knowledge, skills and other characteristics.
At the discretion of the immediate supervisor other job related duties may be assigned as necessary.
Prepares and presents classroom lectures and implements techniques to facilitate student active learning; prepares and grades tests and student outcome assessments; participates in program and curriculum development.
Conducts one-to-one clinical supervision of students in skill labs and health care agencies; assesses clients for student clinical assignments and nursing care plan review; coordinates with community health care agencies to facilitate student clinical experiences.
Provides student counseling and advising on topics including registration, degree audits, individual tutoring, referrals and student problem behavior.
Conducts ongoing research to maintain up to date in health care delivery systems, practices, treatments, drugs, technology, etc.; participates on assigned committees and in professional development workshops and conferences.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of adult learning theory, curriculum development for conceptual teaching and flipped classroom presentation techniques.
Knowledge of counseling, remediation, and advising methods and techniques.
Knowledge of research methodology and information resources related to nursing practices and health care delivery focusing on the Family.
Knowledge of basic supervisory and coaching principles and practices.
Skill in the delivery of nursing care and services.
Skill in supervising students in clinical settings.
Skill in preparing and presenting classroom lectures both online and in using the conceptual methods.
Skill in the use of standard office equipment, including personal computer and standard office software.
Exposure to hazardous materials/chemicals in skills lab and clinical settings, and/or infectious diseases in community health settings.
Masters degree in Nursing; and three (3) years of clinical nursing experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of New Mexico. Must have a valid New Mexico Drivers License.
Salary is based on the LCC salary schedule and is commensurate with education and occupational-related experience. Standard LCC benefits apply.
