Las Vegas is located in Northern New Mexico approximately 65 miles due east of the State Capital, Santa Fe along Interstate 25. It was established in 1835 after a group of settlers received a land grant from the Mexican government. The town was laid out in the traditional Spanish Colonial style. It is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains where the land opens up into the Great Plains. Las Vegas is 6430ft. above sea level and has an approximate population of 15,000 people.
