Overview

Students in the Education Department will develop the foundational knowledge necessary for careers working with children from birth through grade 3. In addition to teaching the theoretical principles of child development, the program offers hands-on, practical experience at the LCC Preschool Lab School. Here, students can conduct observations, teach lessons, volunteer, and apply to work as substitute teachers.

The Education Department offers the following programs:

  • Early Childhood Education (AA)
  • Early Childhood Development (Certificate)
  • Teacher Education (AA)

Early Childhood Education (AA) & Early Childhood Development (Certificate)

These state-articulated programs prepare students to work in early childhood centers as assistant or lead teachers. They also provide a seamless path to transfer to a four-year institution to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education.

Teacher Education (AA)

This program prepares students to work as educational assistants in school settings or to transfer to a four-year institution to earn a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Education.

Note:
To ensure you select the correct courses, it is highly recommended that you consult
with a program advisor and review the current course catalog of your target transfer
