The Associate of Applied Science degree in Media Arts and Film Technology is designed to prepare students with entry-level job skills in the media industry. The program focuses on the use of media technology as well as the basics of visual design and composition. The curriculum offers theory, research and hands-on experience with an emphasis on developing proficiency in the use of multimedia tools and computer software. Students interested in immediate employment in the film industry are encouraged to participate in the Next Generation Media Academy-endorsed Film Technology certificate below.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Understand and adhere to ethical and legal standards in media production, including copyright laws, intellectual property rights, privacy concerns, and responsible use of media technologies.
- Explain film production processes; Interpret call sheets and deal memos, model basic on-set protocols and professional behavior.
- Demonstrate proper set safety and department responsibilities in film production.
- Work effectively in production crew positions in a group environment.
- Recognize and articulate specific film production structure, from original concept to final release
- Understand film production processes used to produce a film.
- Manage craft area job functions.
- Model on-set protocols and professional behaviors.
- Participate in internship work on professional films.
- Work effectively and safely.
