The Financial Aid Office is dedicated to helping Luna students search out and apply for financial assistance. It has long been recognized that the cost of attending institutions of higher education is greater than many families can afford. Financial aid provides students with supplementary funds to offset these expenses. The Financial Aid Office provides financial aid to students who demonstrate financial need to attend Luna Community College (LCC). LCC offers a variety of grants, scholarships, loans, and employment opportunities for its qualified students.

FAFSA Application for Federal Financial Aid
What is the FAFSA and Why Should You Fill It Out?
The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the official federal form used to determine your eligibility for financial assistance to help pay for college. Submitting the FAFSA is the single most important step you can take to secure funding for your education.
Why You Should Complete the FAFSA:
- Access to Free Money (Grants): It is the only way to qualify for the Federal Pell Grant, which provides up to thousands of dollars per year in need-based funding that does not have to be paid back.
- Unlock State & Luna Funding: Many New Mexico state programs (such as the Opportunity and Lottery Scholarships) and Luna institutional awards use your FAFSA data to verify your eligibility.
- Earn While You Learn: Completing the FAFSA qualifies you for Federal Work-Study, allowing you to earn a paycheck through convenient, part-time jobs right on the Luna campus.
- Low-Interest Federal Loans: If you need to borrow money to bridge any remaining gaps, the FAFSA unlocks federal student loans, which offer much lower interest rates and better repayment protections than private bank loans.
Remember: The FAFSA is 100% free to fill out. You should complete it every academic year, even if you don't think you will qualify—you might be surprised by the aid available to you!Ready to apply? Click here to start your FAFSA application (Luna’s School Code: 009462)
