Under general supervision, provides office/administrative support for the daily business activities of a department or work unit of the Institute.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides administrative/technical office support to a department and/or program; composes public information documents and/or correspondence for supervisor’s review/signature; assembles information from various resources to prepare recurring reports; independently prepares selected reports on behalf of an administrative supervisor; makes recommendations based on review of data; reviews and checks documents, records and forms for accuracy, completeness and conformance with applicable rules and regulations; prepares and/or assists in the preparation of notices, announcements, applications and public documents.
Oversees the day-to-day operation of an office/library independently as needed; evaluates office operations and makes recommendations for efficiencies; maintains filing systems; verifies/calculates cash receipts for bank deposits; provides guidance to support staff including training, assigning and evaluating work, and monitoring performance.
Represents a department and/or program area to users or the public; assists students and the public with any questions and refers them to appropriate resources; receives and evaluates complaints and identifies/recommends an appropriate course of action; follows through on the resolution of problems when necessary; serves as liaison between the department/program and external entities.
Independently coordinates/monitors defined technical projects and/or activities within a program or work unit; recommends actions and modifications as appropriate. Assesses/evaluates users of program to ensure needs are met.
Maintains records and monitors departmental expenditures; assists in preparation of department budget estimates; collects and compiles statistical, financial and other information for special or periodic reports.
Other Duties as assigned: I.E. (Board Meetings, Committees, Trainings, and Interviews).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of office administrative procedures and practices.
Knowledge of budgeting procedures and financial record keeping.
Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of assigned function.
Knowledge of a variety of computer software, including word processing, database and spreadsheet applications.
Skill in English composition, grammar and punctuation.
Skill in bookkeeping practices and procedures.
Skill in following oral and written instructions and procedures.
Skill in operating typical office equipment, including personal computer and standard office computer programs.
Skill in conducting research and preparing reports, documents, and correspondence.
Skill in presenting ideas and concepts orally and in writing.
Skill in using public relations techniques in responding to inquiries and complaints.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the public.
Typical office environment.
Graduation from high school or GED; and three (3) years of progressively responsible office support experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Salary is based on the LCC salary schedule and is commensurate with education and occupational-related experience. Standard LCC benefits apply.
Salary Range: ($20,997.53 to $25,595.87).
