Duties and responsibilities:

Definition:

Under limited supervision, instructs students in essential office software applications for entering or retaining employment through the study of general computer coursework.

Essential Functions:

Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act may include, but are not limited to the following characteristics, duties, responsibilities, knowledge, skills and other characteristics.

At the discretion of the immediate supervisor other job related duties may be assigned as necessary.

Tasks:

Prepares and presents course descriptions, lesson plans and classroom lectures; implements techniques to facilitate student active learning; prepares and grades tests and quizzes; develops handouts and other learning aids; participates in program and curriculum development, outcome assessments and scheduling tutors as assigned.

Provides one-to-one student supervision and/or counseling, advising and tutoring; analyzes and documents student progress; participates in student recruitment, retention and placement efforts.

Knowledge, Skills and Other Characteristics:

Knowledge of computers as a business and personal tool through the use of applications
software.
Knowledge of software used for database management, word processing, graphics, and spreadsheets.
Knowledge of adult learning theory, curriculum development and classroom and field presentation techniques.
Knowledge of advising methods and techniques.
Knowledge of research methodology and information resources related to designated field of computer based workforce skills development and practices.
Knowledge of educational teaching and learning techniques.
Knowledge of computer systems and Microsoft office programs.
Skill in performing work related to designated field of computer based general studies.
Skill in supervising students in work experience settings.
Skill in preparing and presenting classroom lectures.
Skill in the use of standard office equipment, including personal computer and standard office software.

Qualifications:

Must have a valid New Mexico Drivers License. Bachelor’s degree in a field directly related to the assigned subject(s) of general workforce skill development studies, and one (1) year of teaching or practicing experience in the designated field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Current Computer Software Applications Certification(s) and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science preferred.

Salary:

Salary is based on the LCC salary schedule and is commensurate with education and occupational-related experience. Standard LCC benefits apply.
