Position Overview
Pay Grade 32
Responsible for maximizing the College’s social and printed media presence through content creation, photography, graphic design, excellent writing, social monitoring and reporting on effectiveness of strategy.
Essential Job Functions
• Creates, manages and develops and nurtures the College’s presence across social media channels, including, but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
• Creates content including photography and/or design imagery for social media channels.
• Creates content, in partnerships with academic departments, for print marketing materials such as brochures, fliers, etc.
• Innovates new and creative ways to use social platforms and digital content to tell stories, heighten the student experience, connect with stakeholders and promote the institution
• Monitors ongoing social and cultural conversation to identify content opportunities and employs through copy, photography and/or graphic design.
• Executes day-to-day social media strategy and campaigns
• Writes and edits various publications, including news releases, web postings, feature articles, news stories, reports, and other communications, highlighting the goals, objectives, policies, programs, activities
and accomplishments of the College, its students, faculty and staff.
• Creates and produces internal newsletters, bulletins, social media and web site postings, and related materials for employees concerning policy and organizational changes, special programs, staff/faculty
achievements, awards, and news of general interest to employees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Exceptional writing skills
• Strong background in customer service
• Knowledge of general photography practices and principles
• Knowledge of computer software, including Excel, Power Point, Publisher, and word processing software.
• Skill in using a computer to prepare basic forms, reports and correspondence, brochures, fliers, notices and other correspondence.
• Skill in following oral and written instructions and procedures.
• Skill in operating typical office equipment, including telephone systems, copy machines, personal computer and standard office computer programs.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, students, faculty and the public.
• Problem solving skills
Work Environment and Physical Factors
• Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Sits most of the time.
• The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection.
• The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
Education, Experience and Licenses
• Associate’s Degree from an accredited university in public relations, journalism or a related field is required.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Portfolio of writing samples required. (Publication not necessary)
• Sample social media campaign required. (Implementation not required)
