Lady Rough Riders finish fourth in Region 9 Softball Tournament, highest ever


Congratulations to the Luna Softball Team who finished in fourth place in the Region 9 Softball Tournament over the weekend. It is the highest ever finish in school history. The Lady Rough Riders, who went into the tournament seeded fifth, lost to the No. 2 seed Trinidad St. 8-3 on Saturday. No. 1 seed Northeastern Junior College won the tournament.

“We really feel good where our program is at,” said Luna Coach Randy Krutsch. “We are looking forward to where we’re going. We have a lot of new changes for next season including a strong recruiting class of talented players. Our team next year will be 90 percent New Mexico residents, including local players.

“The Lady Rough Riders finished out the season winning nine of their last 13 games.
