Look@Luna: Campus tour for high schoolers May 3

Area high school juniors and seniors are invited to the Luna Community College campus for a fun, informational day that will include a guided tour of the various academic and vocational departments, free lunch and optional excursion to Rough Rider baseball and softball games.

The event, Look@Luna, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, May 3. An RSVP is requested by Monday, April 15, in order to secure a lunch headcount. Students may RSVP to
admissions@luna.edu.

The tour will give high school juniors and seniors an inside look at the array of academic and vocational offerings and student services available at Luna.

“High school students can learn about the Luna advantage and see whether it might be the right fit for them,” said Moses Marquez, director of admissions and recruitment at Luna. “We know they have choices to make when it comes to life after high school graduation, and we want to help them explore their options. It’s an exciting time for them, and we at Luna are excited for their future.”

Following the tour and lunch, participants may choose to attend either of the Rough Rider doubleheaders scheduled that afternoon. Luna baseball will be hosting Howard College at New Mexico Highlands University’s Brandt Park. Luna softball will be hosting Midland College at West Las Vegas softball field off Cinder Road. In both cases, first pitch is set for noon, with game two in each case to follow around 2 p.m.

Luna offers approximately three dozen associate degree and certificate programs in seven departments – Allied Health Sciences, Business, Education, Humanities, Nursing, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and Vocational Studies. With tuition rates starting at $38 per credit hour, the college remains one of the most affordable in the country.
