Dental assisting classes scheduled to begin in fall of 2024
After a brief hiatus, Luna dental assisting classes are scheduled to begin in the fall 2024 semester.
“I’m excited this year because we are going to offer some online courses which dental assisting has never done before,” says Denise Fox, dental assisting faculty. “Some of the classes will be in the evening and we are looking at having labs one day a week.”
Fox says that there is a need for allied health professionals including dental assistants locally and statewide.
“Dental assisting is a specialized career and dentists are always looking for qualified dental assistants,” says Fox. “Students can expect to begin learning to do practical work the first week of classes. We want them to start learning hands-on skills early. The entire program will take a year. It’s the fall semester, spring semester and half of the summer semester.”
Fox says that Luna recently got new dental equipment, which includes a new panoramic 3D imaging system and two new intraoral cameras.
Fox says that she will be visiting Luna service area high schools as part of introducing dentistry work to students. Fox intends to make it interactive visits where students can participate in dental related activities.
“If anyone is interested in visiting with me and seeing the clinic floor we are more than welcome to accommodate them,” says Fox.
