Luna Early Childhood Education and Preschool raising money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital
Youngsters at Luna Community College’s preschool will help raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital while learning to safely ride tricycles on Thursday, April 25.
Luna’s St. Jude Trike-A-Thon is a yearly community service activity coordinated by the college’s education department. Businesses, organizations and individuals are being encouraged to sponsor one or more of the 19 preschool children who will be riding in the Trike-A-Thon.
Those interested in making contributions are asked to e-mail Brenda Ortega at bortega@luna.edu or Belanna Apodaca at bapodaca@luna.edu.
Sponsorship money will be collected on Wednesday, April 24. Checks should be made payable to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
According to its mission statement, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital aims to treat, prevent and help find cures for cancer and other major pediatric diseases. Children are not denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay.
The Trike-A-Thon is a weeklong service learning and fundraising program that teaches young children riding toy safety. As they learn rules of the road, participants gather donations to support the children at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
