Dr. Carol Linder Appointed President of Luna Community College
Las Vegas, NM – January 21, 2025 – The Luna Community College Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Carol Linder as President of Luna Community College, effective immediately. Dr. Linder’s appointment represents a pivotal step in Luna’s commitment to stability, growth, and excellence in higher education.
“Dr. Linder has demonstrated outstanding leadership and unwavering dedication to Luna Community College during her tenure as Interim President,” said Board Chair Dr. Phyllis Martinez. “Her vision for the college’s future, combined with her extensive experience, makes her the ideal leader to guide Luna forward. We are confident in her ability to foster accountability, compliance, and student success while ensuring the institution’s fiscal sustainability.”
Dr. Linder has been a key member of the Luna Community College leadership team since October 2021. She previously served as Director of Allied Health and Public Service, and more recently, as Vice President of Finance and Administration (VPFA). As VPFA, Dr. Linder implemented critical strategies to stabilize college financial operations and provided vital leadership in administrative areas. In June 2024, she was appointed Interim President. She has since led initiatives to strengthen compliance, operational efficiency, and institutional effectiveness.
“I am deeply honored to serve as President of Luna Community College and to work alongside the Board and a dedicated team of faculty and staff to support our students,” said Dr. Linder. “Together, we will build on our strengths and embrace new opportunities to enhance Luna’s long-standing tradition as a cornerstone of education and opportunity in northeastern New Mexico.”
Dr. Linder holds a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA in Finance from New Mexico Highlands University. Raised in Española, NM, she has been a resident of Las Vegas since 1997. Her unique combination of academic and administrative expertise, along with her commitment to the college mission, positions her to lead Luna Community College into a bright and prosperous future.
