Luna Community College Revives Beloved Tradition with 17th Annual Car Show
New Release
Las Vegas, NM — Car enthusiasts, families, students, and community members from across northeastern New Mexico are invited to rev their engines for the return of the Luna Community College 17th Annual Car Show on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at the Luna Community College main campus.
After a short hiatus, the highly anticipated event is making a comeback bringing together classic cars, custom builds, motorcycles, bicycles, food trucks, music, and community spirit for a day that promises excitement for all ages.
Participant setup will begin at 8 a.m., with the public event taking place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free for spectators, making it a family-friendly event the entire community can enjoy.
Originally founded in 2005 by Anthony Baca, Ron Duran, and Rick Roybal, the LCC Car Show was created to showcase the work students were doing in Luna’s technology programs while also highlighting the many opportunities available at the college. Over the years, the event became a community favorite and an important fundraiser supporting student scholarships.
With Anthony Baca now serving as a Luna Foundation board member and bringing years of experience in organizing car show events, the revival of the tradition began when Luna
Community College’s Campus Life approached the Foundation to request co-sponsorship and assistance. Together, in partnership with college administration and the surrounding community, organizers are proud to bring the event back.
“This event has always been about more than cars,” said organizers. “It’s about bringing the community together, celebrating creativity and craftsmanship, and supporting Luna students through scholarship opportunities.”
The return of the event has generated excitement throughout the region, especially among longterm supporters who have eagerly awaited its comeback.
The show is open to all makes and models of cars, trucks, motorcycles, and bicycles. Participants will compete in more than 20 judging categories, including Best Lowrider, Best Hot Rod, Best of Show, and many more. Attendees can also look forward to awards, trophies, door prizes, commemorative T-shirts, and dash plaques for participants.
In addition to the vehicles on display, guests can enjoy music, local food trucks, and information booths showcasing programs and opportunities available at Luna Community College. Visitors from surrounding communities including Mora, Springer, and Santa Rosa are encouraged to attend and enjoy a full day of entertainment, food, and car culture.
Vehicle registrations will be accepted on the day of the event, and food truck vendors interested in participating may contact Anthony Baca at 505-429-0425 or Mary Frances Bibb at 505-454- 5306 for additional information.
Whether you are passionate about classic cars, custom builds, lowriders, motorcycles, or simply looking for a fun way to spend the day with family and friends, the Luna Community College 17th Annual Car Show is an event you will not want to miss.
