Information for Graduates

Caps & Gowns

Academic regalia is required in order to participate in the college’s commencement ceremony. Regalia can be purchased through the LCC Bookstore and may not be altered, modified, or decorated in any way. Rental of cap and gown is not available. All cap and gowns must be purchased. 


Commencement Photographs

is the official commencement photographer for our school. Your proofs will be ready to view online as soon as 48 hours after the ceremony. In order to notify you when your images are available, GradImages sends emails and mails paper proofs, along with optional text message notifications.

Your information is never shared and privacy is guaranteed. Pre-registering is simply a way to make sure your contact information is up-to-date with GradImages, so they can provide your complimentary proofs as quickly as possible. Although there’s never any obligation to order, you’ll save 20% off orders of $50 or more for your participation.

Graduation Application and Diploma Process


  1. All students must fill out an Application for Graduation and submit it to the Registrar's Office.
     
  2. Students will be required to pay the $15 graduation fee to process and order your diploma when the Application for Graduation is submitted. This fee cannot be charged to your student account.

  3. The name listed on your Application for Graduation will be used for the commencement program and printed on your diploma. If you prefer to not be listed in the commencement program, please contact us at registrar@luna.edu.

  4. The Office of the Registrar will not delay any degree-awarding procedures. This process will proceed as normal as long as students have met all graduation requirements for their award(s).

  5. You will NOT receive your diploma at the commencement ceremony, but you will receive a diploma cover.

  6. Diplomas will be mailed to the address provided on the Application for Graduation. Your diploma will be available six to eight weeks after the semester ends.

  7. Students who graduated the preceding Fall semester are already cleared to participate in the commencement ceremony in May. No further clearance is required.

Graduation Honors 

Students with graduation honors will be notified in writing by the Office of the Registrar via your LCC student email.

Graduation honors is based on the last semester of completed coursework at LCC utilizing the students cumulative GPA. There will be no exceptions to this policy. For more information you may review the policy listed in the current college catalog.  Exceptions are not made to institutional policy

Students graduating with honors will purchase an honor cord with their regalia at the time of their purchase with the LCC Bookstore. The LCC Bookstore will have a list of students eligible to purchase an honor cord. Graduating students who are active members of LCC’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society may contact the Phi Theta Kappa office to order your honor stole to be worn with your cap and gown at the Commencement Exercises.

Eligibility for Phi Theta Kappa is not determined by the Office of the Registrar, questions regarding this should be directed to the Phi Theta Kappa advisor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Once the institution has determined a date for the next commencement it will send out communication to all students and post the information on this website above. Students are encouraged to stay updated with all updates via their LCC student email.

The ceremony itself lasts approximately 1 ½ hours. Give yourself time to arrive and be seated and some extra time to meet with family and fellow graduates afterwards.

All students must be cleared by the Registrar's Office prior to participation in commencement. For more information please visit the Clearance Process & Diplomas information on this page. Students who graduated in the preceding Fall semester are automatically part of the commencement ceremony and do not require further clearance.

All graduates will proceed across the stage to be recognized individually and will be given a diploma cover. Diplomas will not be given out at the ceremony, they will be ready approximately six to eight weeks after graduation and mailed to the address listed on your Application for Graduation.

Students must submit an Application for Graduation to the Office of the Registrar prior to commencement.  Deadlines will be communicated by the Registrar's Office and can be found on the Academic Calendar on the Home Page. This will generate the final degree check to determine eligibility to participate. Students may be cleared after this deadline but will not appear in the Commencement program.

Cap and gown is required in order to participate in the commencement ceremony and must be purchased at the LCC Bookstore. Academic regalia is required for all participants and cannot be modified or altered in any way. For further information on ordering contact the Luna Bookstore at (505) 454-2569. The deadline date to order will be communicated by the Registrar's Office.

Before graduating, the tassel should be on your right. After graduating, it should be moved to the left.  

General parking will be available near Nursing, Student Services, LCC Administration and across from the LCC Humanities building. Parking guides may be available on the day of Commencement to help direct you to available parking.  You can use this map to help you find parking lots: Map to LCC Media Arts parking lot.

Line up for main campus commencement attendees will start at 9:30 a.m. on the LCC main campus. Name cards for the ceremony must be picked up at the door when entering the Graduating Students area, starting at 8:00 am, prior to line up. All students must pick up a card before the ceremony begins. Parents and families are not allowed in the line-up area during check-in and line-up.

Students’ names will appear in the program as it appears on their Application for Graduation.

Yes there is a rehearsal for graduating students. The data and time will be communicated by the Registrar's Office and posted on this webpage.

All students receiving graduation honors will be notified by the Registrar's Office via their Luna student email.

Tickets are free of charge. Limited capacity is available in the MEC Auditorium but overflow accommodations will be available to watch the ceremony live. The process of distributing tickets will be communicated by the Registrar's Office prior to Commencement.

Students who are active members of Phi Theta Kappa may purchase their honor stoles directly with the societies faculty advisor.
