Title IX & Campus Compliance

Luna Community College prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender in its education programs and activities.

Such discrimination is illegal under a federal law known as Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”). This federal law prohibits sex discrimination in federally funded education programs and activities. It states:

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.

Sex discrimination under Title IX includes sexual harassment and other forms of sexual misconduct such as sexual assault, sexual exploitation, and dating or domestic violence. Title IX also prohibits retaliation for making a complaint or otherwise participating in claims of sex discrimination.

If you wish to request immediate on-campus safety accommodations (such as class schedule adjustments or campus security escorts) or file a formal complaint, our campus Title IX office is here to enforce your civil rights.
  • Title IX Coordinator: Reach out to Matt Griego at (505) 454-2508 for formal guidance on your rights regarding sex-based discrimination, sexual harassment, or pregnancy accommodations.
  • Student Success Center: Connect with our local care coordinators to safely navigate community resources, legal advocacy groups, and local shelter networks.

📝 Our Commitment to You: Seeking help or reporting an incident takes immense courage. Luna Community College strictly prohibits retaliation against any individual who reports discrimination or abuse in good faith. Your safety, your voice, and your peace of mind are our absolute priorities.
