IT/DE Subcommittee

Committee Purpose Statement

The mission of the Luna Community College’s IT/DE Subcommittee is to research and discuss instructional and technology needs, research possibilities, find funding opportunities, and recommend short and long term solutions related to the planning of instructional technology, distance education, and support at the institute. The following goals were adopted from the Council of Regional Accrediting Commissions (C-RAC) (2011).

Committee Objectives

  • Support the Distance Education coordinator’s continued efforts on the Quality Initiative for Distance Education (QIDE) project.
  • Prepare faculty to teach online courses using the Quality Matters framework for online course design and to effectively utilize instructional technology for teaching.
  • Develop a sustainment plan for instructional technology.

The current meeting schedule:

Meeting times change by semester based on membership schedules. During the Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 semesters (with the exception of Spring Break), the committee is meeting on the third Friday of each month. Meetings are often held in the Media Education Center (MEC) Building, but will also be done on Blackboard. Meetings typically last 1 to 2 hours.
