Phi Theta Kappa

About Phi Theta Kappa

LCC re-established its Beta Mu Nu chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) in the Spring of 2024. PTK recognizes academic excellence at the two-year college level and has become the largest and most prestigious honors society serving two-year colleges around the world. Membership is based primarily on academic achievement.

The purpose of PTK is to recognize and encourage scholarship among students. To achieve this, PTK provides opportunities for the development of leadership and service skills, fosters an intellectual climate for the exchange of ideas, and offers opportunities for lively fellowship among scholars and for stimulation of interest in continuing excellence.

General Beta Mu Nu chapter eligibility requirements include:

  • Completion of at least 12 credit hours
  • Classification as a degree or certificate-seeking student
  • Cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.500
