This course is an introduction for the science and non-science major. This course surveys observations, theories, and methods of modern astronomy. The course aims to provide a conceptual understanding of the universe and the basic physics that governs it. Commonly presented subjects include general movements of the sky, history of astronomy, exploration of the solar system, stars, galaxies, and cosmology. Concepts of basic physics will also be presented, which include Newton?s and Kepler?s laws of motion.
