Luna's CCRI Adult Education Program work on skywriting project.

As part of Luna Community College’s College & Career Readiness Institute, students are using the lens of aviation to explore real-life applications of math, language, science, and social studies. On the morning of Thursday, Feb. 2, an airplane flew over campus skywriting the initials LCC as part of the first capstone project of the College’s and Career Readiness (CCRI) applied STEM lab students.

For months, students in instructor’s William E. Dubois’ lab at the CCRI Adult Education Program have been planning the skywriting project. Students made all the calculations of flight path, turn radius, altitude, and timing, and more to create “LCC” in the sky over campus.
