Faith and Resilience (Fe y Resiliencia) exhibit to be showcased at Luna
Luna Community College is dedicated to providing accessible, innovative and integrated learning and educational experiences. In fulfillment of this mission and in support of a strategic goal to cultivate and strengthen public and private partnerships, Luna is proud to partner with Friends of the Museum, Los Hermanos de la Morada de las Gorras Blancas de la Montana de la Sangre de Cristos and San Miguel County to host the Faith and Resilience (Fe y Resiliencia) exhibit.
Through its unique historical, cultural and religious artifacts, photographs and narratives, the exhibition provides a window into the culture and history of our community. The exhibit is a display of santos, artifacts and paintings, many of which originated in 19th century northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. It is the story of a brotherhood of faith and devotion to religion. And it is the story of resilience in a community united by faith, language, culture and the struggle to preserve communal lands and the land grant rights.
The exhibit will celebrate its grand opening at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, at the Luna Media Arts Building. It has been produced by the Las Vegas Friends of the Museum and funded by San Miguel County. The special artifacts are on loan for display from Los Hermanos de La Morada de Los Enmascarados Gorras Blancas. The exhibit will be open on Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Viewing of the exhibit is free.
