Student Orientation set for Aug. 18; all students welcomed
Luna will have its 2023 fall student orientation from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, Aug. 18 at the Media Education Auditorium. All students are welcomed.
Student orientation is designed to help students make the transition into college as smooth as possible. During orientation, students will receive information that will not only assist in preparing them for their first day of class but also equip them with the tools necessary to complete their journey. In addition, students will learn about the resources that Luna has to offer.
Orientation is a time to experience the registration process as well as meet-faculty, staff, administrators and other students. Whether a student has been on campus or not, there is always something exciting to learn, something new to experience and someone new to meet.
“We will have directors there discussing their departments and programs,” said Luna’s Ray Varela from Student Success “For instance, Gayle Martinez will be there to discuss financial aid and Francisco Apodaca will be there talking about STEM.”
“I have asked all directors to say a little something during orientation. Rachel Lucero (STEM faculty) will also be giving a demo of our new student portal “where to go to know.” After the “intros” from directors we will be having ours through student services so they know where to go for things. Then students will have lunch with faculty and staff. In addition, we will be having giveaways from local businesses like gift cards and other things.”
Breakfast will also be provided.
