Luna Education Department participates in Conservation and Restoration Education Program
The Luna Community College Education Department attended the Conservation and Restoration Education Program at Collins Lake on Sept. 28. Several Luna teacher practicum students used the experience to gain practicum hours in their curriculum and practicum course. The practicum students helped in the outdoor classroom environment by providing positive feedback to students and volunteered to direct students in several activities.
The Conservation and Restoration Education Program partners with other agencies such as Ft. Union, Indigenous Education Network, New Mexico Acequia Association, and others to educate children within the Mora School District in an outdoor learning environment. There will be two more outdoor classroom sessions this fall and the topics will cover place-based identity, mapping and topography, and wildlife ecology.
Luna education students are invited to attend all sessions. Any Luna education student interested in attending can contact Tycie Jackson at 505-454-5381 or Mari Hill at 505-454-2504 for further information.
