Luna's Angelica Ortiz breaks NJCAA home run, RBI record

Congratulations to Luna softball player Angelica Ortiz, who broke the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) home run record for a season with 41. Grace Tentinger of Southern Idaho previously held the record with 38 home runs in the 2023 season. Ortiz also broke the NJCAA record for RBIs in a season with 119. Laura Gutscher of Briar Cliff (Iowa)
held the previous record of 117 in 2003.

Ortiz, a sophomore from Albuquerque, is a graduate of Atrisco Heritage Academy. Ortiz has signed a national letter of intent to continue her academic and playing career at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
