Luna to close Monday, June 24 and Tuesday, June 25; online classes to go on as scheduled

The City of Las Vegas is experiencing a water shortage due to the impact of the 2022 fires and the recent flooding. At the request of the City, Luna Community College main will be closed on Monday, June 24 and Tuesday, June 25.

All in-person classes on the main campus are cancelled. Online classes will proceed as scheduled.

This week’s summer bridge program on the main campus will go remote. Santa Rosa, Springer, and Mora will remain open and the summer bridge programs will proceed in person as scheduled. Email Sherry Goodyear at sgoodyear@luna.edu for details.

The Preschool will remain open because day-care services have been deemed an essential service. Luna Security (505-429-1159) will be available if needed.

The Board of Trustees special meeting scheduled for Monday, June 24 will be rescheduled for a future date.

The city’s water supply is at critically low levels and it is essential for all of us to conserve water as much as possible. Please drink bottled water and limit the use of city water. If you need assistance, please let us know.

We will keep you informed as the situation evolves, and let everyone know whether we will be able to return on Wednesday, June 26. Employees should work from home on essential tasks and duties as we close out the fiscal year. Please work with your supervisor if you have any questions.
