Luna to recognize student, staff and board trustee veterans

In keeping with the tradition of honoring America’s service men and women, Luna Community College plans a formal recognition event on Veterans Day this coming Monday, Nov. 11.

The college will recognize student, employee and board trustee veterans.

The day’s events start with a wreath laying ceremony to take place at 8:45 a.m. at the outdoor Maximiliano Luna Monument just west of the Technology Building followed with a Veterans Recognition Program in the Media Arts Auditorium at 9 a.m. The wreath laying ceremony includes an honor guard and a 21-gun salute. The Recognition Program includes an honor guard, individual recognition of veterans, veteran gifts presented by Luna preschoolers and a post-event reception.

In addition, the college will formally recognize its namesake, Maximiliano Luna, with the unveiling of a framed proclamation in honor of the Rough Rider captain at around 9:45 a.m. in the Media Arts Building.

Community members are encouraged to attend.
