Humanities

Are you an explorer at heart? Are you interested in a college education but not necessarily settled on one occupation or academic field?

Taking coursework in the Humanities Department and learning about a variety of fields may help you make that decision. A student in Humanities will spend his/her time satisfying core-curriculum requirements, obtaining an academic certification, earning an Associate of Arts degree, and exploring academic, vocational and personal goals that can be tailor-fit to the individual.

The LCC Department of Humanities’ mission is to develop varied intellectual perspectives, advance technical skills, increase visual and written creativity, and promote social awareness through general education and career-focused courses and degrees.

Within the Humanities Department, you may opt to attain a certificate in general education or an associate degree in Liberal Arts. The Humanities Department also has exciting programs in Criminal Justice!

Liberal Arts Degree/Certificate:

The Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts teaches effective oral and written communication concepts. Students will gain the ability to identify and define problems and tasks, the ability to think independently and creatively as well as the ability to organize ideas and create solutions. This program allows students to use the degree as either a stand-alone or transfer degree. Our A.A. degree provides students transferring to four-year schools with the curriculum needed for the first two years of a baccalaureate study and will offer the skills and attributes essential in a competitive job market.

Criminal Justice Degree/Certificate:

This program is an interdisciplinary course of study in the areas of law enforcement, substantive law, court structure and process, and corrections as integral components of the criminal justice system.

General Education Certificate Program:

This flexible program is available for those who wish to tailor an associate degree to their own specific educational needs. The program will provide a variety of educational experiences and career opportunities as well as a foundation for both two- and four-year degree plans.
