Students and employees are invited to join Luna at the Community Unity Celebration Parade at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23 in Las Vegas.


What: Community Unity Celebration Parade

When: 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23

Where: Starting point will be at Carnegie Library at Sixth and National Ave. (The parade will start promptly at 12:30 p.m., line-up starts at noon)

The parade will culminate at Bridge St. From there, individuals can walk to Melody Park on the campus of New Mexico Highlands University, where Highlands will be hosting a matanza, also on that day. A matanza is a Hispanic cultural event that centers around a slow roast of pork in an underground pit. Each of the first 100 Luna students and employees who show up to walk in the parade will get a ticket to eat at the matanza. Tickets will be given out prior to the parade.

Luna students and employees are scheduled to eat at the Matanza from 1p.m. to 2 p.m. As part of the matanza, HU will have entertainment throughout the afternoon.*

If you have a Luna t-shirt, please wear it to the parade. If you need a Luna t-shirt, please go by the Admissions and Recruitment office.
