Luna team to recognize fight vs. cancer

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Luna Community College softball team plans a special giveaway this Sunday, Oct. 31, as part of a full day of scrimmages at Cowgirl Field on the campus of New Mexico Highlands University.

Scrimmages begin at 10 a.m. and continue into the afternoon. The public invited to come out and enjoy some Halloween softball action featuring the Rough Riders, the NMHU Cowgirls and an additional team. Those in attendance will be eligible for the giveaways presented by Luna head coach Steve Wallace and his team.

Luna softball has previously recognized Breast Cancer Awareness Month with similar giveaways, wearing pink in honor of those who have fought or who are actively fighting cancer.

It’ll be an especially busy day for the Rough Riders, who will also participate in the City of Las Vegas’ Trunk Or Treat activity that evening at the old Safeway lot on Douglas Avenue (across from Charlie’s Bakery and Dick’s). That event starts at 3 p.m. and runs into the early evening.
