Film Technician Certificate Program beginning at Luna in the fall

Luna Community College is starting a Film Technician Certificate Program in the fall of 2022. The one-year program will prepare students for entry-level jobs in the crafts and skills sector of the film industry.

The program is divided into three modules: Module I will be taught in Luna’s main campus in Las Vegas and includes courses covering film set etiquette, nomenclature and terminology, film history, equipment handling and OSHA safety rules.

Module II is an internship to develop more hands-on experience, and will be taught in Albuquerque. Module III includes paid apprenticeships on a qualified media production shooting in New Mexico.

Students who complete the program will earn an industry-standard, union-supported, highly specialized education in a chosen craft.

Luna’s program is part of New Mexico’s Next Generation Media Academy, which will be working with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees to develop straightforward paths to IA- TSE Local 480 membership for students.
