New Luna nursing students participate in boot camp


Luna’s Nursing Department is excited to welcome their new fall 2022 nursing cohort.

On Friday, August 12, all incoming Level 1 nursing students participated in the First Nursing School Boot Camp. The boot camp is designed to prepare new nursing students for the expectations of nursing school.

“We provided study, organization, time management, and self-care tips to help students become successful throughout their journey in the nursing program,” said Luna’s Nursing Success Coach Yvonne Pina.

During the Boot Camp, members of the Student Nurses Association (SNA) provided snacks and recruited incoming students to become SNA members.

On Monday, August 15, the nursing department conducted orientation for all new and returning nursing students.

In the morning session, the nursing department hosted Level 1 students and Level 3 students in an afternoon session

The Area Health Education Center (AHEC) provided lunch for all students. AHEC Director Raymond Sanchez spoke with students explaining how AHEC supports the nursing program and explained the AHEC Scholars Program.
