Second Annual Walk for Hope to be held Sunday at Luna

The Second Annual Walk for Hope will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18 at Luna Community College. The Walk for Hope is a collaborative effort of the Northeastern New Mexico Suicide Awareness Project and is organized by community members and led by Luna’s Cindy Branch.

The goal of the Walk for Hope is to bring awareness of suicide and mental health. In addition, the Walk for Hope is also used to educate the public on resources that are available. There is no fee to participate in the walk, however, donations are welcomed and any money raised will be used for scholarships and other events. The actual walk will be approximately a mile around the picturesque Luna campus.

“I want to thank everyone that has brought this event to fruition,” said Branch. “Last year we had hundreds of people participate in the walk and we hope to have many individuals join this year as well. It’s important that as a community we bring awareness of suicide and mental health.”

As part of the event, there will be informational booths and guest speakers.

For more information on the Walk for Hope, contact Branch at 505-454-2541 or via email at cbranch@luna.edu.

Branch takes the Walk for Hope very seriously as Branch and her family have experienced the loss of a family due to suicide.
